Our story

We’re parents of two young kids.

Like all kids, they love music and stories.

We relish the moments that they sing along to an old favorite or connect with something new. Moments that inspire imagination and play. Moments filled with joy.

These moments make us thankful for the internet. For the millions of songs that are available on demand. For the thousands of podcasts and audiobooks that open up new frontiers in learning and entertainment.

The internet is a complicated place.

It’s our responsibility to introduce our kids to the digital world gradually.

Screens and smart speakers make that hard. These powerful devices aren’t built to let kids enjoy the best parts of the internet independently and safely.

We’re left struggling to make them okay for our kids.

So we spend our family time playing screen cop, Bluetooth DJ, or tech support. Worse, it can mean fighting with our kids over what they’re doing and for how long.

We envisioned a better way.

We wanted a way for our kids to enjoy music and stories online that was fun and easy, as well as private and secure.

We imagined something we could feel good about them doing while we made dinner, paid bills, or took a few minutes for ourselves. Something that wouldn’t compromise their privacy or wellbeing. Something they’d love to do on their own.

So in the summer of 2018, we set out to make it. Healthy technology that any parent of any kid would welcome in any room of their home, any time of day.

Making change for the better.

We created a media experience that can safely accompany kids throughout their day.

It can be with them as they go about their business of play. During the quiet moments before bed. As they learn and discover the world on their own terms.

Everyone is concerned about the effects of digital technology. On our lives, our families, and our society.

We still believe in technology that makes us get up and dance, brings us together, and fills us with joy. In families that are happy, healthy, and connected.

At Ellodee, we’re helping future generations build healthier relationships with tech, one child at a time.
